An exciting opportunity for Lyon students has arisen: international study abroad. Three courses, one opportunity in Spring of 2026 and two in the Summer of 2026, are offering travel as part of the course curriculum. Dr. Rodriguez, as part of her SPN 382: The Inca Legacy, has a trip planned to Peru. The class will cover the country’s rich Incan history and delve into the colonial transformation. At the end of the semester, after graduation, students will take a trip to Lima and Cuzco. They will explore interesting museums and see Machu Picchu. Dr. Matthew Lebrato is hosting a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. His class, ANT 182: Culture, Environment, and Sociopolitical Systems in Oaxaca is being taught during the first session of Summer 2026. The first part of the class will be spent on campus, followed by the last half in Oaxaca City. Lastly, Dr. Szulga is going to be taking another trip to Poland alongside his class ECO 382/HIS 382: His/Econ Poland & Lithuania. Meetings will be held during the spring semester before the trip, as well as online ones after returning to the United States. Freshman will need approval, but, unlike past years, seniors are able to go to any of these trips! There are payments required, including a deposit due a certain deadline (January 1st for Peru, the end of January for Oaxaca and Poland). The specific amounts, deadlines, and any other information can be found with the respective professors. They are happy to help you if you want to go on these trips by answering any and all questions that they can. Don’t hesitate to reach out! Taking international trips may not be so easy once you’re out of school, so make the most of these experiences while you can.
