A Spooktacular Halloween Season at Lyon

Lyon college has had its fair share of ghost stories and haunts around campus, most notably in the Alphin building. For the Halloween 2025 season, the spirit of the holiday was plentiful. There were many events in the days leading up to,  and on the day of Halloween, including trivia night at the library and Halloween bingo in the caf. SGA hosted a pumpkin painting contest where students were challenged to decorate the best Disney-themed pumpkin. First place was won by Levi Chollman, who painted the lantern scene from Tangled (also the best scene in that movie). SGA also hosted the Alphin Asylum haunted house, where evil nurses and men with chainsaws had patients tied up to chairs and, obviously, there was a demonic nun. Personally, I enjoyed the exorcism the most, which may be because it was very open and no one could jump out at me from anywhere. The Row held their annual trick or treat, LEAP showed Scream by the Grigsby House and, Alpha Xi, hosted a haunted trail behind the Lyon building. Other organizations like the Chemistry Club held their own parties. Dr. Irosha Nawarathne and the students in the Chemistry Club had a large event that showcased the creative costumes and baked goods of students. Students could find an event anywhere on campus during the month of October thanks to the hard work of each organization. I’m looking forward to next year’s events, which may just exceed those of this year!
