Annually, Mortar Board puts together SCARF, Lyon’s Student Creative Arts and Research Forum. SCARF is an event that allows students who have worked hard on their respective efforts in research and arts to showcase their scholarly works. No matter the subject, there’s an opportunity with SCARF. There are five categories that students can enter into: Artistic/Performance, Social Research, STEM, Business, and Humanities. These categories can be presented orally or on a poster.

An exciting opportunity for Lyon students has arisen: international study abroad. Three courses, one opportunity in Spring of 2026 and two in the Summer of 2026, are offering travel as part of the course curriculum. Dr. Rodriguez, as part of her SPN 382: The Inca Legacy, has a trip planned to Peru. The class will cover the country’s rich Incan history and delve into the colonial transformation. Lyon college has had its fair share of ghost stories and haunts around campus, most notably in the Alphin building. For the Halloween 2025 season, the spirit of the holiday was plentiful. There were many events in the days leading up to, and on the day of Halloween, including trivia night at the library and Halloween bingo in the caf. SGA hosted a pumpkin painting contest where students were challenged to decorate the best Disney-themed pumpkin. First place was won by Levi C
