Dinner on a Dime: Holiday Edition

Need an easy dessert to make for your holiday gatherings? Look no further than this fudge recipe!


Prep Time: 10 minutes

Chill Time: 2 hours

Total Cost: $9.60 total / $1.60 per serving

Yields: 2 lbs of fudge


1 tsp butter (0.10 per serving)

1 can sweetened condensed milk ($0.80 per serving)

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips ($.0.40 per serving)

1 cup butterscotch chips ($0.20 per serving)

1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

1 tsp vanilla extract ($0.10 per serving)

How to Make It:

  • Line a 9-inch square pan with foil. Grease the foil with butter.

  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine milk, chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips. Microwave, uncovered, on high for one minute. Stir.

  • Cook 30-60 seconds longer, stirring every 30 seconds or until chips are melted.

  • Once removed from the microwave, stir in nuts and vanilla.

  • Transfer mixture into prepared pan. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm.

  • Using foil, lift fudge out of the pan. Gently peel off foil.

  • Cut fudge into 1-inch squares. Store in an airtight container.
