The past few weeks have been big for the Scots football team. With two decisive wins in as many weeks, they’ve now tied their season win record since the reestablishment of the program, and beaten their first-ever ranked opponent.
The Scots improved their season football record to 5-2 on Saturday, October 26th with a win over Wayland Baptist. They were led to victory by quarterback Isiah Bradford, who threw for 187 yards, including 3 touchdowns, and ran for 2 more touchdowns. Bradford put up season highs in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, alongside a passer rating of 121.354. Lyon’s defensive unit held Wayland scoreless until the 3rd quarter, when Wayland finally managed to put 7 points on the board.
On Saturday, November 2nd, the Scots took on number 12 in the nation Ottawa University. David toppled Goliath as the Scots won 18-14, winning on a 4th quarter touchdown pass from Isiah Bradford. This is the Scots’ first win over a ranked opponent since Lyon’s football program was reestablished, and was also Ottawa’s first loss of the year. The Scots defense held the explosive offense of the Ottawa Spirit to their lowest scoring game of their season so far, with excellent performances from linebacker Samuel Taylor and defensive back Jace Stewart. The dynamic duo on defense combined for 19 total tackles. The Scots will return home on November 9th for Senior Day and their final home game of the 2019 season as they look to improve on their already impressive 6-2 record.
